This Lockdown experience has taught me …

that life can change at any second, jobs aren’t guaranteed and that health is everything

What do you feel your lockdown experience has taught you?

This Lockdown experience has taught me that life can change at any second, jobs aren’t guaranteed and that health is everything .Self care and mental health is fundamental and we shouldn’t take our health for granted. It made me realise the importance of being self reliant and having a skill that can generate money. Also that It has taught me to be okay with slowing down,  stillness and just being. It has definitely taught me to live in the moment and be present with my family. That the space where you live in must be a sacred and nurturing space as its where you spend most time… It has also taught me to spend less money, cook more and question everything. It has also reinforced my connection to nature as that was the only place to go during this lockdown. Being in  nature almost everyday has definitely made me fall inlove again with all of its beauty, helped me to breathe deeper and find inner peace and balance.

What have you found most challenging as a parent?

My anxiety is what I have found most challenging as a parent during this time. Already as a new mum you face so many new feelings, emotions and worries… Being responsible for another life, that totally depends on you can be so utterly overwhelming. Therefore, all those feelings plus a pandemic which seems so completely unstable, uncertain and unknown was all bit intense...

I also get a bit emotional when I think that my baby hasn’t met her grandparents, aunties and uncles yet, as they live abroad and noone was allowed to travel. I feel a bit sad that my family and friends will have missed out on her being small.

Do you plan to make any changes in your life as a result of your experience during lockdown?

I definitely plan to make changes in my life after my experience during lockdown. I would like to keep going into nature as much as possible, less takeaways, spend less money, more family and sisterhood time, learn a new skill and move out of London.
